Officially in the Holiday Spirit. Constantly sipping hot coffee, listening to the She & Him christmas album, and feeling all around happy.  I love this time of year! I'm also one of those people who likes to cherish Thanksgiving and not truly get into the Christmas spirit until Thanksgiving has passed. So with that said- Christmas tree officially goes up this coming weekend and we're so excited for our first Christmas in our new home!  Also, I wish this all white barn, winter deer and rolling snow fields belonged to us. One day...

Happy Monday back to a regular work week! {ugh, right?} Anyways, the long weekend allowed for a lot of goodness. In between family and friend get togethers, we enjoyed some christmas shopping, strolls through the farmers market, porch swinging and napping, and a night out.  Hope you all were able to enjoy your long weekend as well!

I've been following this love story since I first came across the blog andrew+carrissa and felt compelled to share this video not only because it brought tears to my eyes, but because this new family exemplifies strength, courage, selflessness and unconditional love.  Something we all could use more of....

This Thanksgiving morning {like most} I have an overwhelming amount to be thankful for. On this day, I'm thankful for sleeping in, coffee on the couch while watching the thanksgiving day parade, homemade muffins and quiche, family who will willingly cook and host a fantastic thanksgiving feast later today and the chance to spend the morning and afternoon at our home, relaxing and enjoying a day devoted to remembering how blessed we are.   Hope everyone else is enjoying their day too! Happy Thanksgiving!

November 16, 2011

Yesterday I came to the realization that it's time to prioritize and let go of the things in my life that are causing me stress.  The tiniest work related issue came up (literally, tiny) and it brought me to tears. This is not normal and it made me realize that I'm just not taking enough time to relax and enjoy my life. Between working full time, this blog, our business and the freelance job's I've got going on, it's all just too much at times.  I'll be the first to admit that part of the problem is the way my brain functions- it's never still. Saying i'm going to just relax and cut out the things that I don't need sounds wonderful in theory but then how will I ever achieve all the things I want to achieve?  I so often wish I was the type of person completely content with working a 9-5 job, coming home each day to relax and just watch tv. It all sounds so easy and simple but I know thats just not me.  I have an entrepreneurial type mind (ps. i have to google how to spell entrepreneur every. single. time.) and i'm just not satisfied if i'm not creating something.  I've said it before- it really is my blessing and curse.  After talking to my husband about it, he suggested we just relax and take some time to not pursue all the things we want to RIGHT NOW. Easier said than done, huh? He's right though.  I really need to make a physical list of my responsibilities, commitments, and wants which I know will help me see things clearly and prioritize. A weekend away wouldn't hurt either :)
It's days like these where I want nothing more than an old farmhouse in the middle of no where, where my responsibilities include sweeping, cooking, and picking wildflowers.....

-felt especially happy making the bed this morning knowing i've got a new little reminder for hubby everyday.

-I'll take any rainy day as long as it means my wellies and hot coffee

-taught my little preschool class at the shop this morning and am always so delighted with how much one particular little student enjoys coming week after week.

-we just finished kitchen renovations and coming downstairs this morning put a huge smile on my face seeing our beautiful new space.

-the rain makes my pup especially sleepy which means I got lots and lots of puppy snuggles this morning.

-we actually have zero plans this evening. that hardly ever happens so i'm looking forward to a nice night in.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

La Petite {issue 6}

November 15, 2011

La Petite Magazine. La Swoon.....I figured since I gave a teensy Babiekins preview, I'd do the same for the equally beautiful La Petite {and because I love them both the same:) }  I absolutely adore this magazine. Can you blame me? Look at these images- stunning! Don't forget to check out their current issue- It's amazing.

Over the weekend

November 14, 2011

So we had a weekend. It was busy (per usual) but really great. Friday night we attended the Emery theater revival event and had dinner at a new spot in the city which was super yummy.  Saturday we hit IKEA (which by the way is insanity on a Saturday) and scored new butcher block counter tops! I'm so excited about them and they look really great. Next is some backsplash which is happening this week- Yay! It's so nice to have a handy hubby.  We got a few new things for the house at an auction we stumbled upon and I scored this new pillow for the bed at the shop! We also had some friends over for dinner and drinks on Saturday and really, there's nothing I enjoy more these days than a night with friends spent "IN." I really must be getting old. Hoping everyone else had a great weekend!

Monday's mantra

.....and that's a fact. Happy Monday!

Babiekins {issue 7}

November 11, 2011

Babiekins is by far one of my most favorite online publications.  You don't have to be a mama to appreciate and find an uber amount of inspiration in their spreads.  There's way more goodness within their pages. Make sure to check issue 7 out.
