Love how well this captures the essence of childhood. Right!? So beautiful and innocent.  Also, I freaking love Little Warrior.

In the past few weeks we've been introduced to a new group of  incredible creatives, entrepreneurial type go getters and it has Nick and I both feeling overwhelmingly inspired and ambitious.  I find that it's so easy to get "stuck" in your day to day routine and be satisfied with how smoothly things generally go.  There's the side of me that will always say, there's something you want to do? then do it.  I've never been one who is held back by logistics or finances.  I have always felt like, this is the one life we have to live however we choose, and i'm not going to let something as silly as money stop me from doing it.  To this day I still feel that way to a certain extent.  Things are a bit different now that we own a house and are planning our future with a kid in mind but i'm always brought back to the same thoughts- kid or no kid, this is our life. The only one we'll ever have and if there's ever a chance to chase dreams, create something new and be adventurous, now is it- NOW is always the time no matter if you're 21 or 51. Do something that fulfills you. Do something that pushes you to grow. Do something that takes you out of your comfort zone. Do something. Anyone else in this same boat?

Hello! Our weekend was crazy busy. How was yours? I wasn't able to snap that many photos, which is nice sometimes, ya know? To not worry about camera settings when your with friends and just enjoy. Breath of fresh air every now and again.  Anyways, we had dinner with friends Friday. A baby shower for our good friend Emily Saturday, a surprise birthday party for Tara > ( check out Tara's amazing work!) Saturday night, and brunch at my moms Sunday.  Whew! It was all very lovely. Have a wonderful Monday, friends!

This has pretty much been my Friday. It's cold and dreary out so I figured what better way to spend the day than with coffee and cocoa? Getting ready to head out now for Final Friday which is an awesome local event that happens the last Friday of every month.  The art galleries and shops on Main Street in Over The Rhine stay open later and have usually have something rad going on.  Cheers to another wonderful weekend, all!

While putting my weekly Babiekins blog post together- 5 Children's Books to Love, I came across this image from lmnop blog when searching for Iggy Peck Architect {a favorite children's book} and about died. It's so perfectly adorable in every way.  Hop on over to the Babiekins blog and see what other books I picked!
Happy Friday!

Okay. So, last night my girlfriends and I went to see The Vow.  Normally this is not my kind of movie at all. I can be a total girly girl, but if I have my choice of movie it usually involves some dramatic, mind bending, intense kind of plot.  In spite of all that, I love Rachel McAdams and I love my girls so I thought, lets do this.  If you have yet to see it, I'll just say right now it's so good. Like the kind of good where tears sit in your eyes for the entire film because you can only imagine what it would be like if  you were in the exact same situation.  How if the scenario (which by the way was based on a true story) were real, how would you cope? I sat in the theater with my closest friends and all I wanted was to be in Nicks arms. I so badly wanted to be able to wrap my arms around him, fitting so perfectly, the way that we do in each other arms, and take all of him in.  It's crazy- love. How one moment it feels so ordinary and then in the next moment you're overcome with how deep, powerful and poetic it truly is.  How lucky we are because the majority of people don't have what we have.  How did we get this lucky?  Hug your man (or lady) tight and remember how precious love is.

New blog crush: kids dressed better than you. It's pretty much just a hodgepodge of insane children's fashion and design- right up my alley.  There's something about these little ladies that I can't stop swooning over. Gorgeous, cool, urban, ultra hip. Yep.

1. A walk around Sawyer Point.
2. Saturday brunch at The Comet {amazing!}
3. Impromptu stop for chocolate shakes during a walk around the city.
4. Dining room set for a little dinner date in.
5. Hi Honey.
6. Getting that dinner prepared and ready.

I should also say that Saturday night we celebrated two of our very dearest friends engagement!
We could not be more excited for these two. Yay for love! <3

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend too!

A few months ago, the local blog / women's magazine, Cincy Chic highlighted some of the entrepreneurial woman around town and for some reason I never got around to sharing it here.  I was honored to be one of the women contacted. Such fun! Here's where you can read  my interview.   Nick and I are thick in planning for the upcoming City Flea season and are so excited about some big changes this year. Can't wait to share all of the seasons details in just a few days over on The City Flea website! Hurry up, summer!

This past Monday, Nick and I hosted our foodie friend Doug for dinner and were pretty happy with the results.  We thought and thought about what we wanted to make for this dinner.  We wanted something impressive yet easy enough to prepare in just a couple hours. Doug had us over to his place just a few weeks ago and made a super yummy / impressive short ribs, risotto, oysters and brussels sprouts- holy yum {and insane cooking skills!}  We hit up our local farmers market and got all the local ingredients we could and ended up going with this:

baguette with fig spread, port salut cheese, baked for about 5 minutes.

Mixed greens
dried cranberries
goat cheese
balsamic vinaigrette

Main course: Bolognese

  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled and coarsely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, coarsely chopped
  • 1 carrot, coarsely chopped
  • 1 pound ground chuck beef
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup flat-leaf Italian parsley, chopped
  • 8 fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Pecorino Romano

In a large skillet heat the olive oil. When almost smoking, add the onion and garlic and saute over medium heat until the onions become very soft, about 8 minutes. Add the celery and carrot and saute for 5 minutes. Raise heat to high and add the ground beef. Saute, stirring frequently and breaking up any large lumps and cook until meat is no longer pink, about 10 minutes. Add the tomatoes, parsley and basil and cook over medium low heat until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper. This will take approximately 1/2 hour. Finish bolognese with Pecorino Romano.

Can I just say how in love I am with Big White Box Portraits!? IN LOVE. I've always liked studio photography- the simplistic, minimalist feel of them is so appealing to me, especially when shot in all white space. SWOON.

I think i've decided that having friends to our house for brunch is my new favorite gathering place and time.  I loved waking up Saturday morning and instead of brewing half a pot of coffee for Nick and I, I brewed an entire pot knowing that our friends would be arriving soon.  I found it to be the perfect way to start the weekend- friends, coffee, cinnamon rolls, lots of laughter, good conversation and two snuggly babies who I happen to think are just perfect {I think their mama and papa would agree too.}  We love our friends and couldn't feel more blessed about the bunch we tend to spend most of our time with. It really is the simple things in this life that make it all worth it :)
