I know I shouldn't even be complaining but sometimes you just have to let out some frustrated emotion right? I've yet to have an irrational breakdown (27 1/2 weeks in people- I should get an award or something right?) so I figured writing about a few things on my blog is my given right :) Like i've said a million times before, I feel great for the most part.  This is my first pregnancy so going into it, I didn't know what to expect.  Actually, I was expecting much worse.  I thought i'd be one of those women sick through their entire pregnancy and thank God that I'm not.  I just can't even imagine how terrible that must be.  But the thing is, I'm tired.  I'm not sleeping well AT ALL and my back aches almost 24 hours a day which has become some sort of vicious pregnancy sleep cycle. I want to lay down and sleep because my back aches, yet I can't get comfortable because my back aches.  Real cool. I'm a stomach sleeper as it turns out.  People are constantly telling me how little I am (which, okay I get it and I'm glad i'm not huge at this point as I know I have a lot of growing to do still and I suppose I prefer this over Oh my gosh, you're so big!)  but this belly is big for me which makes all the aches just as valid, right?  I'll also note that I'm measuring right where I should be soooooo......

With that said, SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO GET SOME SLEEP AROUND HERE! I've got pillows tucked, propped, nestled, piled all over the dang bed. My poor husband.....


  1. My friend is pregnant at the moment (about 30 weeks) and people are constantly telling her how small she is. One woman at work even asked her if she was really pregnant! I don't think some people realize that those comments aren't always what expectant mums want to hear. Have you tried a full body pillow? I know that helped my friend. A. Lot. Hope you're feeling a bit better soon. x

  2. Thanks, Alice! I totally understand what your friend feels! People mean well, they just don't put themselves in others shoes first :) And yes, I have a full body- I'm always so nervous that I'm putting too much pressure on my belly. Oy vey! Thanks for the comment though! :)

  3. ahhh yes. you not only are measuring right on par, you are having sleep woes right at TRI III. i don't have any words of wisdom realllly, bc all pregnant ladies are different.
    You can sleep on your belly still as long as it's comfortable, but I'm guessing that's not the case since you are 27 weeks haha. i'm a belly sleeper too, but I got a snoogle pillow and that really helped. when it comes to back pains and the like i would recruit nick to do some massage. that was heavan for me. or treat yourself to some prenatal massage. i also saw an awesome chiropractor that specialized in preggos and children. your body is carrying all kinds of different proportions now so you might not be as balanced/aligned as you once were, creating pressure in all the wrong areas.

    also recommend yoga. my teacher does wonders and my neighbor massuese. now's the time to treat yourself little lady!

    but again, no words of wisdom really, with the joys of pregnancy come the crazy discomfort too.

    yea bump comments are tough. in doula training we were taught to not say "you're so big" or "you're so small" - every mama wants to look pregnant, but not think they are so big or so small. as long as you are healthy, you'll carry how you should carry! i was huge, but did all i could to eat well and stay in shape. some of us need to gain 60 lbs (ahem, me) and some of us need to only gain 25. it's crazy!

  4. I am right there with you on both the back pain and sleep troubles.

    And now I swear by my Hypnobirth mp3s. Even if you don't plan on using Hypnobirth for your labor, I would HIGHLY recommend using it just for relaxation and for aid with falling asleep easily and sleeping soundly. And the great part is that so far on the first track there hasn't even been one mention of birth or pregnancy, its really just all about learning how to deeply relax, so my husband enjoys listening to it as we fall asleep as well.

    Some of them can get pretty expensive but I was given a recommendation for this download,, and it is AMAZING. I think the woman's british accent adds to my level of relaxation and calm.

    Seriously, give it a try, I promise you won't regret it.

  5. I had a little bump the whole way through and even when I was in labour a consultant suddenly decided it was too little (not that that means anything). All rubbish because I had a 7 pound baby in the end!

    As for sleeping, ditto what Amanda said re hypnobirthing. I used to fall asleep to it, so relaxing. And if not, just give up on sleep and read a book/watch some tv. When you'r tired enough you'll drop off most likely. Hope you feel better soon.

  6. Oh my goodness. So many amazing suggestions! I think I am going to def try some of the hypnobirthing tapes! I'll take relaxation any way I can get it!
