I'm super excited that Warby Parker just launched an affiliate program for bloggers over on shareasale which is the plattform I use when working with affiliate partners. I'm such a fan of Warby Parker and even though I don't wear glasses myself, I find that I am always on their site browsing the collection and flipping through look books. ( I secretly wish that one day I'll fail an eye test and be told I should look into getting some glasses - I just love them!)

So, what the heck does this mean? Not much really. Just that now you'll see that beautiful Warby Parker banner hanging out over there in my sidebar and if you decide you need an amazing pair of new specs, you can click right on over from my site, make a purchase and then I'll thank you because a small percentage of sales driven from my site goes into an account I have set up through shareasale. Everybody wins :)

Happy Friday, friends! We've got the perfect fall weather going on this very moment in Cincinnati and Ruthie and I are soaking it up. This morning we met some friends for coffee then came home to explore on the front porch. This little monkey loves being outdoors, picking up every little spec of anything she can get her tiny fingers on. We don't have too much planned this weekend and after our last weekend i'm perfectly okay with that. Time to relax with my family is all I need.

Speaking of things I need - this mornings coffee date with a girlfriend (and our babes) was one of those dates you leave feeling totally happy and inspired by for no other reason than you feel a connection with the person you're with. (It doesn't hurt that Megan is a creative mama running her own creative business) This girlfriend of mine is new- we've really only known each other for about a year and have only gotten together a handful of times but there's just something about her that I adore and have a feeling it's going to turn into a really great friendship.  You know how sometimes you just click with someone? That's how I feel with Megan. I'm so grateful for relationships like that and for another mama in my life who I can talk to and feel inspired by. She's rad you guys. And her babes are beyond adorable. Her littlest one and Ruthie are the exact same age so it's totally fun (and adorable) to see them together. Anyways, Go see what she's about.

Have a great weekend!

October 23, 2013

Not much going on around these parts but I wanted to pop in to say hi. (hi!) Today we are hunkered in, content playing on the floor, snuggling on the couch and sipping hot coffee. The weather is strutting its fall stuff and I just love it. I have plans to make a pot of spaghetti and meatballs and finish season two of Scandal. (Are you guys watching this? HOLY SHIZ. It's one of those series where watching just one episode is impossible. SO GOOD.) Anyways, I have really been enjoying this slow week. After our crazy one last week it's nice to not feel like I have to constantly be working, cleaning the house and preparing for so many things. Nick and I (and baby ruthie too of course) are heading to a cabin in the woods next weekend and I'm looking forward to it more than you would believe. So here's to the remaining week. May it be just as cozy and relaxed as this first half as been.

lindsay Hello! Happy Monday! I'm actually pretty glad it's here. The week and weekend were beyond busy and it feels nice to just have a normal, slow Monday in store. We held our October market on Saturday AND I threw a birthday party for Nick that night back at the house. I was a bit ambitious with doing both things in one day but hey, we made it and had a ton of fun through it all. So yay, fist bumps. Anyways more on all of that later. Today I wanted to pop in to let you all know I have an interview up over on Jamie Dawn's blog - Love, Jamie Dawn. Here's a fun fact. I met Jamie at the August Flea when she came over and introduced herself having recognized me from this here blog. How fun is that!? Now we bump into each other around the city and it's so fun being blog and instagram buddies. Please go have a look around her beautiful blog and read my interview HERE. I'm talking all things life, love and The City Flea! Thanks, Jamie!

10.16.2009 Wedding Day 263
Yesterday Nick and I celebrated 4 years of marriage and to be quiet honest, they have been some pretty incredible years. A new city, a home, a business and a baby all in four years time. We live a pretty easy, simple, peaceful little life and do our best not to take an ounce of it for granted because while we may not have all the material things we wish we did (does anyone?) we do have all the stuff that really matters- the good, makes your heart leap and soul stir kind of stuff. And for that, I'm forever grateful. I'm so excited to see where the next 4 years (and beyond) takes us. I'm on the greatest adventure of my life with this man by my side and I am so honored that 4 years ago he chose me to be by his side for all of his days.

And, want to hear something cool? See the photo above? We had our wedding photo's taken in the American Can Factory before it was renovated into the lofts they are today, which also happens to be the venue we use for our October City Flea! The below photo is what the space looks like when we use it for our market (which happens to be this Saturday!) We always get a little nostalgic when we step foot back into this amazing space for our October market. Fun, huh?

October 14, 2013

Currently we are fighting exhaustion as we are on to our sixth day of baby sickness. Our poor girl is hardly sleeping at all at night which means we aren't either. We're all lucky if we get 4 or 5 hours and it's all over the place - half hour here an hour there. We're getting pretty desperate but we're surviving. I was finally able to track down a nose frida and I got some herbal supplement drops that are supposed to help with stuffy baby noses. I'll try anything (safe) at this point.

Currently our house is in shambles as we are putting new floors down on our main floor. I'm so excited and anxious for it to be done.

Currently I am a bit nervous about a birthday gathering we are having at the house for Nick's 30th! (see above)

Currently I am thinking about all this week has in store. We are celebrating 4 years of marriage Wednesday, we have a City Flea event on Saturday, some tiny friends are turning two and it's also Nick's birthday this weekend. Whew, that's a lot going on.

ps. The image has nothing to do with anything but it sure is pretty and we can all agree that it's much better than the messy house, snot nose fest we have going on over here :)

October 11, 2013

Hey there! Reporting live from a house full of sickies. I just now realized I haven't been around here for an entire week thanks to the snot nosed little one we've been tending to the last few days. And now, here we are taking advantage of a family sick day. On the agenda today: Cinnamon rolls, hot tea, chicken noodle soup, snuggles, and netflix. So far so good, minus the dozens of snotty tissues laying around, piles of laundry on the bedroom floor and a sink filled with dirty dishes. But you know, I guess that's just how it goes when the entire family comes down with the same nasty fall cold. And to think, we were so excited about this cooler weather a few days ago.  The change in season can be such a pain sometimes. Hey, at least I have a comfy sweater on :)

October 4, 2013

And so it is one of those days. 3 hours of restless sleep with a baby in the middle of the bed and a headache that doesn't let you sleep. I am welcoming this Friday with open arms and a mug filled with coffee. Lots of coffee. There is so much to do today with the launch of new event details we have been working on for The City Flea, things to get in order for the market we have coming up in couple weeks, and this baby. This sweet baby who is currently screaming in her crib, fighting sleep with all her little might. As soon as I hit publish, I'll go in and comfort her, hold her in my arms and tell her I'm here. I'm always here little one, please just sleep. You need it even though you think you may not.

So here it is. Three cheers to all of those fighting exhaustion with to do lists and little ones to care for. We are all in this together. Happy Friday.

October 3, 2013

Hey all! Just wanted to pop in to let you know I've got a new post up over on Classic Play - Montessori for Baby. Just sharing a few little things you can do at home with your little babe to incorporate some Montessori into your day to day.

There's so much good stuff happening over on the Classic Play site- I feel so lucky that I get to contribute month after month. Go see for yourself!

October 2, 2013

My little monkey girl. Today you are eight months old. Hooray! Can you believe we've only been together for a measly 8 months? It feels like we've belonged together all along, doesn't it? I can certainly remember the time before there was you and although your papa and I were happy with our little life, it seems like the years, months and days before you came into our hearts were just part of the path that would lead us to you and you to us. While I look back on the days of just your papa and I with fondness, I wouldn't go back for even a second if it meant you were not there with us.

I always feel like this time of year is when things start to speed by and before we know it, I'll be writing to you as a 1 year old. I am truly cherishing each month with you and the changes, phases, and cycles they bring into our lives. Right now you are just so fun (although I know I say that each month- it's true. You are so darn fun!) You are into everything and don't miss a beat. The smallest sound in the house, or outside stops you in your tracks so you can turn to see what you could be missing. Which brings me to your naps. You are now entering the stage where you can't bear to be away from me (or anyone.) so instead of napping, you don't. You are the 8 month old baby who plays all. day. long. Thankfully you aren't cranky without daytime naps. You couldn't be any sweeter and well mannered. Although you have learned to scream (at very high volumes) when you aren't getting enough attention or when you are frustrated. So that's fun. You enjoy the heck out of the swings at the park now and taking walks in your red stroller. Not so much your black one. You really are the happiest baby I ever did know.

I am doing my best to be the mom you so deserve. I have been thinking so much lately about what I want you to learn from me and at the very top of my list is for you to deeply connect with people and the outdoors as you grow. I do not want you to see me in front of a screen as much as you do and so this is my promise to you. I will not feel frustrated with you when you don't nap so I can get work done. Instead I will cherish these sweet days together and remind myself business can wait, you cannot. There is plenty of time to work in the evenings once you have gone to sleep. Letting go of to do lists and being present with you, truly present is a promise I will not break. I love you so much it hurts. I know that sounds silly but it's true. There is a physical ache (the good kind) in my heart when I think of you which is nearly every second of every day. Thank you for blessing me with the gift of being YOUR mama. I've never been so sure about anything in my life.

October 1, 2013

I am so in love with Opposite of Far, and how could I not be? These super adorable masks are just the thing for any kid these days. And the tag line, 'encouraging play, expanding imaginations' is what childhood is all about, no? I've been thinking a lot about ways to incorporate my business (The City Flea) into this blog and since Opposite Of Far is a kid related vendor of ours (we don't have very many kid related brands,) I wanted to share their company with you here. With halloween right around the corner, I thought this little company would be the perfect post to kick October off with!

So. Related. I may start to write a bit more about things happening locally. Nick and I are extremely passionate about our city and have become pretty connected and in the loop with a lot of small businesses and people around here who are all doing really cool things. It's not something I talk about on this blog much and I think i'd like to start. Our work and our city are such a huge part of my life so it only seems fitting that I bring some of it into this personal space.
